The Double Knotty

(SOLD) This board has quite the interesting story here at Big Board Cribbage.  We originally "thought" we were making a baord that could use 3/16th brass rod stock for pegs.  SO, we dutifully drilled the 3/16th holes way back in July.  well, 3/16th inch brass rod doesn't fit in 3/16th holes.  Nope.  YOu need to drill one 64th inch oversize!

So, the poor board was stored away for awhile until I could figure out what to do with it.  One day I got a brainstorm and went to Tacoma Screw in Idaho Falls and took the board along.  A Staff guy there helped me find the correct steel taper pin size to fit the 3/16ths inch holes.  So we named the board "The Double Knotty" and proceeded on.  The Double Knotty actually almost sold not once but TWICE!  In fact, one person said they were going to send the money via Paypal but didn't.

So, The Double Knotty sat around looking kinda lonely.  Yesterday we got the bright idea to give Double Knotty a new life as a .223 Caliber Cribbage Board.  And that's when the "fun" began.

We dutifully drilled out all 124 holes to fit the inert .223 caliber cartridges we use as pegs.  SO far, so good.  Then we realized the Double Knotty didn't quite lie flat on a table so we thought we'd plane it until it laid flat.  Ah, HA!  That's when the Ryobi thickness planer took off enough to expose almost all of the re-drilled holes.  DANG!

So, then we trundled off to Home Depot to buy some Titebond wood glue and proceeded to glue on a quarter-inch-thick piece of unused paneling.  Well, quite frankly, it turned out to be The Worst glue job I've ever done.

However, by some miracle the board actually lies plumb flat and the whole think looks pretty good.  I am discounting this board's price because of the above. It's probably the best $30 cribbage board you're ever going to find.  It includes five pegs but no new deck of cards.

It's a smokin' deal, so to speak.

Double Knotty has a great "wide open spaces" feel to the playing area.
Here's the back side of the board.
Yes, the pegs are truly INERT!!!  No powder and a spent primer for each.
